We are proud to introduce BuildIT Metrology 2018, the latest release of our flagship software. Before you try out the new version, here are a few of the new features included in this release. For the full list of enhancements, please check the release notes.
With the functionalities of Projector now included in BuildIT Metrology, you can measure, plan your projections and operate a projector all in one single streamlined workflow.
BuildIT now features realistic representations of the measurement devices in the 3D view, making it easier to understand the inspection setup in screenshots and reports.
Hold the ALT key while performing a rectangle selection to prevent selecting surfaces that are blocked from view within the viewport. If the surface is fully concealed by another object, it will not be selected.
BuildIT now integrates FARO's Imager GUI, an intuitive new interface that gives you full control over an array of imagers and a rotary stage. Capturing a series of scans with multiple exposures at various angles is now a matter of a few seconds.
Simply drag and drop the columns of the Spreadsheet to rearrange them to your liking.
Use the mouse's scroll wheel or drag with the left mouse button to quickly position the origin of a section plane. This new behavior also works in many other commands where a set of X,Y,Z coordinates can be entered.
With the new cloud to cloud analysis, any point cloud can now be directly compared to another reference point cloud.
Limit your surface analysis based on a measurement's standard deviation or RMS, making it more relevant and easy to interpret.
Automatic measurement association is now more flexible than ever. Choose to associate only the closest neighbouring point or an average point fitted to the nearest measurements.
In 2017.5 we introduced a shortcut to the Surface Analysis in the contextual menu for surfaces with associated measured points. In BuildIT Metrology 2018 we have expanded that functionality to all surfaces with nearby measured points.
In Extract Surfaces, you can now constrain extracted planes to a normal.
Create points at intersections in point clouds with the Extract Corner command.
With the improved cloud to cloud registration command, simply select all clouds to register and let BuildIT find the best alignment for you.
Many enhancements have been made to the commands related to dense point cloud handling workflows. The Best-Fit alignment command, for instance, now features options to remove outliers and automatically associate the clouds to the nominal geometry. For downsampling, the Reduce Cloud command now has the option to merge the output clouds.
BuildIT now has global Cloud Processing settings that apply to any device. Measurements get downsampled on the go, according to the minimum sampling distance in the general settings. Simply set in accordance with your inspection requirements and never manually downsample a cloud again.
Produce reports of greater quality featuring your measurements in their original context. Pictures, schematics or sketches can now be easily blended with your measurement's background. Such saved views can simply be added to an entity-based report.
The evaluation method of each individual feature of a pattern is now reported in entity-based reports.
Take advantage of the power and versatility of Python. With the interpreter now directly embeded in BuildIT, call Python external scripts or write your code directly in BuildIT processes with the General_PythonScript command. The Python standard libraries can be used to access information about your model and its entities. Complex operations that could not previously be achieved inside of the process editor environment are now at your full disposal.
BuildIT system variables like $(_MODELPATH_) or $(_TIMESTAMP_) and Windows environment variables like $(_ENV(USERNAME)_) or $(_ENV(USERPROFILE)_) can now be added to entity-based reports' comments and footer fields. The strings get replaced with their corresponding value when the report is generated, allowing you to include more information in the report.
